'05 Subaru STI - RomRaider tune
We received a 2005 Subaru STi for a stage2 tune via Cobb AP.
When the client got to the shop we found out that the version was the old 1 on the AP. Well that posed a dilemma since we never had tuned a car with that version before. So apart from that set back we tested the car to see how it ran and what kind of power it came with. This was a freshly rebuilt engine, but for some unknown reason to us that person that put the engine together made a bad install job on the Cusco catch can that was present in the car. After the first run on the dyno there was a excessive amount of oil being burned and expelled via the exhaust. This seemed that the tuning this car was not going to happen until this issue gets resolved.
Lucky for the client and us the mechanic/installer at our other shop (Rommel) showed up to save the day and he ended up taking out this catch can and few consecutive runs on the dyno all the left over oil was gone from the system. He found some other issues that were not addressed at the time the un-named person that installed the rebuilt overlooked.
I took out the Cobb AP1 and uploaded a RomRaider bin to start the tune and we managed to put a smile on the face of the client as we found a little more power on the set up. He will be upgrading on our recommendation to better the output of the engine. Here is the dyno chart and list of mods:
CP Pistons (8.2:1CR), Crower springs, Grimspeed pulley, APS CAI, GFB BOV, HFC (3"), DP/midpipe, Agency Power TBE, Stock turbo, TMIC.
19psi tapering to 16psi.
Ambient conditions:
75.2 F / 80% Humidity / 29.99 barometer
